SHARJAH // A group of 60 Brownies from the Sharjah Girl Guides association, ages 7 to 12, 'sailed around the world' at a five-day camp this week.

The girls were taught about the lifestyles, habits and cultural differences of other countries through a variety of arts and crafts, cooking, costume making and movie screenings.

An entire day was devoted to learning about China, and another to the continent of Europe.

Day three focused on Hawaii and the final day was spent learning about the continent of Africa.

"The purpose of these activates was to broaden their perspectives and help them understand different cultures," said Eman Al Mahmoud, the assistant director of the Sharjah Girl Guides. "This in turn helps nurture this young generation into truly global citizens."
