DUBAI // The Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar will start his international fan tour in Dubai.
The batting star, who hit his 100th century in March, will host a black-tie gala dinner for 400 next month.
"I have many fond memories of playing in this country and have always appreciated the success and support I have had here," Tendulkar said. "I look forward to being in Dubai for the first stop of a six-city world tour."
Tendulkar, who has recently been nominated to the Upper House of Parliament in India, will share personal perspectives on his career at the dinner and auction memorabilia to raise funds for charity.
In recognition of his 100th century, he will also be presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award by the cricketers' almanac Wisden India.
The "Little Master" is widely celebrated in India as the greatest cricketer of his generation.
One of the best innings of his career was his 143 against Australia at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in 1998.
An Evening with Sachin Tendulkar will be at the InterContinental hotel in Dubai Festival City.
Promoters promise an intimate and interactive evening of dinner and entertainment with the star.
Ticket prices and sellers have not been announced.
