Catholics in the UAE are being advised to register with their local parishes this month if they want to attend Pope Francis’s public mass as there are limited tickets available.

The mass will take place at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi on February 5.

The mass will be open to 120,000 ticket holders, but there are one million Catholics in the UAE.

Parishioners attending St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai who are interested in attending need to complete an online parishioner registration form before January 15, with a registration ID mandatory for mass tickets, while St. Francis Church in Jebel Ali needs parishioners to register before January 20.

“The number of entry tickets are limited so a delay in registration will lose your chance to get a ticket from the quota our parish will get,” said an announcement by St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

“Our Parish will list all the main representations of the parish by community, ministry and movements with the aim of ensuring as broad a representation as possible.”

St. Francis Church also urged parishioners to register online, saying that details of the ticketing process are still being worked out and will be published on their website shortly.
