Reckless Al Ain drivers get 386 tickets in five months
ABU DHABI // Traffic police in Al Ain have issued 386 tickets for reckless driving in the past five months.
Yesterday their chief blamed speeding drivers for being the main cause of death on the roads.
Driving behaviour classed as reckless includes speeding, sudden manoeuvring and tailgating, said Col Hamad Nasser al Baloushi, head of traffic police for the external Abu Dhabi regions.
Col al Baloushi said speeding caused 20 to 25 deaths in the Abu Dhabi emirate every month.
"And these are just the fatalities," he said. "If we look at the injuries, they can reach up to 150 a month."
