The company behind a UAE grocery staple has launched a limited edition can to celebrate the country's 48th National Day.

Rainbow Milk has been used to make karak chai and other hot drinks since it was brought to the country in 1955, with original cans displayed in Dubai Museum.

The company behind the evaporated milk, FrieslandCampina, paid tribute to its loyal customer by issuing the design, which features this year's Year of Tolerance logo.

It also launched recycling initiative for its products across the UAE.

Customers can now drop off used cans at selected Choithrams stores across Dubai, Ajman and Sharjah and KM Trading stores in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

“As one of the first dairy companies in the region and one of the UAE’s long-standing favourites, it was fitting that we celebrate this year’s National Day with a limited-edition Rainbow Milk can,” said Sumeet Mathur, Managing Director, FrieslandCampina Middle East.

“But, we also wanted to go a step further by contributing to the nation’s admirable target of diverting 75 per cent of municipal solid waste away from landfills by 2021 by launching our initiative to collect Rainbow Milk cans.”
