Rain showers lash eastern UAE
ABU DHABI // Eastern mountainous areas of the UAE were lashed by heavy to mild rain showers yesterday afternoon, after planes induced it by seeding the clouds. The precipitation was caused by a low pressure system which attracted a humid front from the east to collide with another coming from the Gulf of Oman. Monday's rainfalls hit 4.2 millimetres in the Manama area in the north. Other areas which enjoyed the brief rains were Hatta South, Dhaid, Meleiha, Felli and Madam, according to the National Centre of Metreology and Seismology (NCMS). NCMS said its artificial rain aircraft studies the cumulus cloud over the areas prior to seeding them to induce the rainfall. * WAM
