Prophet’s birthday brings day off for UAE government sector workers

All government sector employees will get a day off work for Mowled Al Nabawi celebration of the Prophet’s birthday.

Next Sunday will be a day off for all government sector employees.

Humaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education and chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, announced today that all ministries and federal government employees will have a paid holiday on Sunday, in celebration of the Prophet’s birthday - Mowled Al Nabawi.

Mr Al Qatami wished the President, Sheikh Khalifa, and the Vice President and Dubai ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, a blessed holiday, reported Wam, the state news agency.

Ministry of Labour has said Saturday or Sunday will be a paid holiday for private sector employees, depending on their work week. So if they usually work Saturday and only get Friday off, they will get a two-day weekend with Saturday off as well. If they usually have Friday and Saturday off, their holiday will be Sunday.
