A private tutor has denied molesting a 15-year-old student and instead insisted he was being framed, a court has heard.
Dubai Criminal Court was told that the 40-year-old teacher from Bangladesh, who has not been named, was hired by an Indian family to give lessons to their daughter.
Prosecutors claim that on June 17 this year the suspect allegedly touched the girl on the leg before cupping her face in his hands and kissing her.
The man denies the charge, however, insisting that the girl was making up the story.
“It didn't happen your honour," he told the trial. "I noticed how weak her academic performance was so I became tougher with her and I admit I slapped her in one incident. Her family then came up with this lie to frame me."
Court documents show the tutor had been teaching the girl four times a week in the Al Muraqqabat area of Dubai for around three months before the alleged incident occurred.
The teenager told the hearing: “He started touching my legs and arms and sometimes would stretch his leg on top of mine.
"When I asked him what he was doing he would tell me to pay attention to the lesson."
On the day of the incident, the girl claimed the tutor held her face in his hands and then kissed her near her lips. “He told me it was a friend’s kiss,” she said. She added: “I told my mother the minute he left home and she then told my father who called the police."
A verdict in the case is expected to be given on August 12.
