Police to triple patrols to catch dangerous jetskiers

So far this year 18 jetskis have been confiscated for offences including disturbing beachgoers, creating chaos, not wearing a lifejacket and endangering other people's lives.

Police are to triple their jetski patrols to catch dangerous jetskiers along the Dubai coast.

The Ports police station will add six patrols to its existing three. So far this year 18 jetskis have been confiscated for offences including disturbing beachgoers, creating chaos, not wearing a lifejacket and riding the jetski in a way that endangers other people's lives.

Last year 98 jetskis were confiscated, up from 39 in 2010. Last year jet ski accidents claimed the live of one person and seriously injured another. So far this year two people have been injured.
