DUBAI // Police have seized almost half a tonne of hashish being smuggled into the UAE from an asian country, it was announced this morning. The drugs were concealed in a sixteen-wheeler truck on Emirates Road, in Dubai, on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. Details were only released today. They said the shipment, weighing 457kg, was heading for an unspecified GCC country. Major General Khamis Mattar al Mezaina, Deputy Chief of Dubai Police, said an international operation was now under way to arrest two main suspects involved in the smuggling operation.
