DUBAI // Emiratis who have led the way in various fields will be celebrated on Sunday at the second edition of the UAE Pioneers initiative Dubai.
The ceremony will honour 44 distinguished Emiratis for their work in education, health, innovation, technology, sports, arts, culture, media and philanthropy, as well as the government and military.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, will award the winners with special medals, and their names will be added to the Government Year Book of UAE Pioneers.
During the ceremony Sheikh Mohammed will also launch the 2014 UAE Pioneers book, which will contain inspiring stories about the Emiratis who were honoured last year.
The UAE Pioneers initiative aims to promote within Emirati society the concept of honouring and gives an opportunity to all citizens to nominate themselves or other people who have excelled in various fields.
