DUBAI // An American photographer whose images have graced the front cover of Time magazine 70 times will join a dozen professionals as they lead a series of workshops and seminars on their craft.

The New York-based Gregory Heisler will teach the technical aspects of his profession to members of the general public during the seventh annual edition of Gulf Photo Plus.

From March 7 to 12, experts will lead classes tackling the basic use of a pocket-sized camera, Photoshop as well as fashion, commercial and documentary photography.

Claire Rosen, a successful freelancer who is also based in New York, will take participants in the fashion workshops through each stage of a fashion shoot, from the magazine assignment to working with models and developing a concept.

Mohamed Somji, the director of Gulf Photo Plus, said his team had worked hard to find the best photographers in the field.

Last year, 950 people attended classes during the week. Prices range from Dh50 for one session to Dh2,000 for a three-day seminar.

Mr Somji said many graduates had made a career out of photography since attending the sessions.

Gulf Photo Plus is partially sponsored by The National.
