A man died after being hit by a car on Al Ittihad Road in Umm Al Quwain.
The Omani pedestrian was attempting to cross the road from an undesignated area near Tasheel when he was hit by the vehicle, driven by an Arab woman.
Police said were called about the accident at 1pm on Monday and dispatched patrol cars and an ambulance, but the man suffered multiple fractures and was pronounced dead at hospital.
Lt Col Saeed Obeid, director of traffic and patrols at Umm Al Quwain police, urged pedestrians to strictly use zebra crossings and for motorists to avoid speeding and drive vigilantly at all times.
