The timing could not have been more perfect for a pair of proud parents who welcomed their fifth child into the world on the first day of Eid Al Adha.

Kamal Abdul Hamid Sayyah, 35, said his wife's due date was Saturday, but they were delighted their new bundle of joy delayed her arrival by a day.

The Syrian father said the couple are still to decide on a name for the latest addition to the growing family, who was born at 4.29am, just minutes before Fajr prayers, weighing 3.3 kilograms, at Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children in Abu Dhabi.

“My wife’s due date was on August 10, but with Allah's will she delivered today and here we are now celebrating the birth of our fifth child,” he said.

“We have not yet decided on her name yet, but both are in good health thanks to Allah.

“Her two sisters and two brothers have been waiting for her so it is a double celebration with her birth and Eid.”

Six babies were born on Arafat Day, Saturday, August 10, and two more on Sunday morning at Danat Al Emarat Hospital.

Just 15 minutes after the hospital's first child of Eid, the second child was born.

Khulood Al Badri gave birth to a boy called Yousef, weighing 3.1 kilograms.

It was an early arrival, with baby Yousef coming seven days ahead of schedule.

“All of these precious bundles of joy were managed by our team of over 200 obstetricians, paediatricians, neonatologists, midwives and nurses,” said hospital chief executive Mariano Gonzalez.

Those maternity staff were in for a busy day, with five more babies expected by the end of Eid Al Adha.

At the Aster Qusais Hospital in Dubai, Bangladeshi parents Nasima Begum and Abdul Hoque gave birth to a baby boy at 1.46am, and it was a similar scene at Burjeel Hospital, where overjoyed parents proudly welcomed their new additions into the family.

Joury Mohammad Dawagreh was born in the early hours of Sunday morning to Mohammad Dawagreh and Boshra Ahmed Al Younis.

“This day will always be memorable for our family,” said Mrs Al Younis.

“Babies born on such a significant day bring added joy to our hearts, and give more reason for the family to celebrate,” said Dr Aruna Kumari, a hospital obstetrician.
