UMM AL QUWAIN // The Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, has hailed the country's growth and progression in a speech to celebrate National Day.

He paid tribute to the nation’s leaders, past and present, and called for continued efforts to develop the UAE for the betterment of its people.

“Our union has presented to the world a distinguished model of state growth and a unique success story that earned applause and appreciation from the world in terms of the welfare state and urban development, to the extent that many people across the globe wished to be Emiratis,” Sheikh Saud told Dira’a Al Watan magazine.

He stressed that excellence had become a watchword for this generation as the country strived for further growth.

Sheikh Saud highlighted the push towards renewable and clean forms of energy as an example of ambition and success.

"The 42nd National Day anniversary is a great occasion to mark the inception of the UAE union, a fulfilment of a dream of the forefathers who exerted their utmost efforts to make it a reality," Sheikh Saud said.

“As the spirits of the founding fathers celebrate their success story, today we also observe the grand feat that evokes in us joy and pride about the common identity of the UAE people who overcame the divisions.

“We pay a glowing tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum,” he said.
