Ordered procedure for worship

Friday sermons, which take place in the early afternoon, tend to have a particular structure.

Friday sermons, which take place in the early afternoon, tend to have a particular structure. The first part contains the main body of the sermon, in which its topic and theme are defined, and draws from a variety of religious sources. It begins with general praise for God and then the Prophet Mohammed. This usually lasts for 15 to 20 minutes. A break follows and the khatib steps off the podium for a few seconds.

The second part of the sermon usually lasts about five minutes and often contains a summary of the first part. The imam and the worshippers then take part in duaa, or pleas to God, which call for the general well-being of Muslims and the country. Worshippers then take part in the Friday prayers, which usually last about five minutes.
