Online photo contest helps to boost Dubai's Expo 2020 bid

DUBAI // More than 100 photographs of beaming residents have been posted on Instagram and Twitter as part of a contest in support of the Expo 2020 bid.

The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority has received more than 160 images of people holding up the bid logo at tourist sites in countries such as Malaysia, Italy, France, Denmark and the UK, as well as in the UAE.

The winner of the contest will be announced on July 11 and get a specially engraved iPad Mini.

Among the photos posted was one of a person in a gondola in Venice with a cut-out of the Expo 2020 logo. Another had the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur as its backdrop. Others showed the logo in front of the Burj Khalifa or in the desert.

The photography competition is open to citizens and residents.
