One-year-old Emirati boy drowns in family swimming pool

AJMAN // A year-old Emirati boy has drowned in a swimming pool at his family’s home.

The child was brought into the emergency department at the Sheikh Khalifa Hospital by his family at about 8.30pm on Tuesday after their attempts to give CPR at the scene failed.

Dr Wael Khalil, who was working in the emergency department when the boy arrived said family members had pulled the boy out of the swimming pool and tried to resuscitate him before rushing him to hospital.

“The hospital’s emergency team tried to help, but the boy died an hour after arriving,” he said.

“We reported the case to police and they were now investigating.”

Ajman police confirmed administrators at the hospital had contacted them about the death.
