Oman ties stronger after Sultan Qaboos visits

Talks between Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Khalifa have increased the 'strong brotherly relations' between the two countries.

ABU DHABI // Talks between the leaders of Oman and the UAE this week have increased the "strong brotherly relations" between the two countries, the state news agency Wam reported.

Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said yesterday ended a three-day visit to the Emirates, where he met Sheikh Khalifa, the President, and watched performances by Omani and Emirati artists.

In a message to Sheikh Khalifa, Sultan Qaboos said the meetings had "a great importance in promoting and supporting the strong brotherly relations between our two countries to achieve the aspirations of people of both countries".

The two leaders met on Saturday in Al Ain and exchanged views on the "latest regional developments", Wam reported.

Discussions centred on ways to further promote ties and coordination between the countries.

At the conclusion of the talks, the leaders pledged communication and more state visits.

On the second day of the visit, Sultan Qaboos and his delegation joined Emirati officials for performances of folklore and songs by local troupes.

The leaders also enjoyed an Omani poetry reading and a selection of compositions played by an oud and qanon band.

After leaving the UAE, Sultan Qaboos travelled to Kuwait for a four-day diplomatic visit.
