The new carrier will offer twice-daily services between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, and once-daily services to Doha, Qatar.
New UAE airline to be launched today
DUBAI // A new airline is expected to be launched later today offering return flights from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi.
The airline, which is named Eastern Express, is expected to start operating in the first quarter of next year.
Alex De Voss, the CEO of the new airline, told DubaiEye radio show this morning that return flights from the capital to the east of the country would initially cost Dh1,200.
“If you’re taking a cab from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi it’s about Dh400 one way, or Dh800 return,” he said. “In that sense, Dh1,200 isn’t too bad.”
He said the airline would initially have only one jet, with 29 to 37 seats, and there was a possibility of a tie-up with another regional airline later next year.
Flights would run twice daily to Abu Dhabi, and once daily to Doha in Qatar.
