New pictures of old UAE on show at Yas Marina Circuit

Abu Dhabi Media, publishers of The National, will present never-before-seen images to racegoers.

DUBAI // Never-before-seen pictures of historic UAE will be on show to race fans at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend.

Abu Dhabi Media (ADM), the company that publishes The National, will display the images at its stand at Cultural Village, an attraction at Yas Marina Circuit set up for the duration of the race weekend, from tomorrow until Sunday.

“In line with ADM’s commitment to preserving and promoting the nation’s vibrant heritage, the stand will offer visitors a glimpse into UAE history through a collection of images which showcase the past and present of the country,” Abu Dhabi Media said.

“The images are taken from ADM’s digital archive of content, which has been built over the years by the company’s brands in order to shed light on the legacy of the nation, its modern-day developments and achievements.”

It follows an announcement of an agreement between ADM and the National Centre for Documentation and Research.

The agreement gives ADM access to the centre’s archived media, including print, radio and television. In addition, the centre will provide ADM with 4,000 hours of film in digital format.

The stand at Cultural Village this weekend will have a feature whereby visitors can take pictures of themselves and superimpose it over a historic image of the UAE, before printing it out as a postcard or souvenir.
