ABU DHABI // The indoor food market at Mushrif Mall should be open within several months, its developers say.
The Market, a state of the art food hall, will include a meat hall, 74 seafood shops and 61 produce shops, and will have its own cold-room, chiller room facility, drainage system and waste management.
It will be the largest and most technologically advanced produce market in the Middle East, spanning more than 18,000 square metres.
And thanks to an advanced ventilation system it will be odourless, the developers say.
“It’s a state of the art facility in a controlled environment with zero waste and no odour,” said David O’Brien, General Manager of The Market. “Of this scale, this doesn’t happen anywhere else in the world.”
The Farmers’ Services Centre, a government body tasked with modernising Abu Dhabi farms, plans to also be a part of The Market.
Fishermen from the Abu Dhabi Fishermen Co-op Society will also be present in the seafood shops and the meat section will display local and imported food from Australia and Brazil. It will also have an area for camel meat.
