National Day celebrations take to the skies
The UAE's commercial airlines joined Al Fursan in a flypast to mark the event
National Day celebrations took to the skies on Sunday as four UAE airlines joined the country's air force for a flypast from Ras Al Khaimah to Abu Dhabi.
Etihad Airways, Emirates, flydubai and Air Arabia linked up with Al Fursan, the Emirates' aerobatics demonstration team, who were using Aermacchi MB-339A jets.
Emirates said taking videos and photographs of the event was welcome but asked the public not to put the formation at risk by using drones.
The aircraft followed a flight path that started in Ras Al Khaimah at 1.40pm, travelling via Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, ending the display at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque at 2.25pm.
