National Day and New Year's holidays announced

The 39th National Day and Islamic New Year holiday for federal bodies and ministries will take place from December 2 to December 5.

ABU DHABI // The 39th National Day and Islamic New Year holiday for federal bodies and ministries will take place from December 2 to December 5, a circular issued by the UAE's Human Resources Authority announced today.

Humaid al Qattami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Government Human Resources Authority said that federal ministries and departments will remain closed from Thursday December 2, to Sunday December 5 with work resuming on December 6, 2010.

The private sector will have Thursday December 2 as a paid holiday to mark the UAE's 39th national day, according to a circular issued today by the Minister of Labour, Saqr Gobash.

The private sector employees will have a paid day off on Saturday December 4, on the occasion of the new Hijri year 1432.

The UAE's 39th National day celebrations will be marked by the holiday on December 2 and 3 while the new Hijri year was moved to the start of the week and falls on Sunday December 5.
