A nanny sexually assaulted a 4-year-old boy in her care, a court heard.

Dubai Criminal Court was told the father of the child alerted police after he was overheard telling his grandmother the nanny had touched him and 'caused him pain'.

The nanny, 33, from the Philippines, had started working for the Emirati family at their home in Al Rashidiyah, Dubai, a few months prior to the incident.

During March of this year, the boy complained from pain in his diaper area.

“We were potty training him but at night we would have him in diapers, so I asked the accused to put on his diaper before he went to bed,” said the boy’s mother, 34.

When her son said he was in pain, she checked the area and found redness after which she applied some cream, thinking he had a rash.

Two days later, while she was with her mother and children having a Moroccan bath, she heard the boy telling his grandmother that the nanny had been touching him and caused him pain.

“I asked him again and again to make sure he wasn't making it up then took him to the hospital where two doctors checked him and confirmed that he had been sexually abused,” said the mother, who called her husband and informed him at once.

The husband reported the nanny to police who went to the hospital and spoke to both doctors.

Police were provided with a medical report and subsequently arrested the defendant.

She denied a sex assault charge in court.

The next hearing is scheduled for July 2.
