Nakheel denies blocking car-park access at Shoreline apartments
DUBAI // Nakheel today denied reports that it is blocking access to car parks in the Shoreline residential buildings on the Palm Jumeirah.
The statement marked the latest chapter in the row between the developer and tenants over maintenance fees and the upkeep of buildings. The dispute flared last December when Nakheel began to bar residents with unpaid service fees from using the beach, pool and gym. The ban also hit tenants who had paid their rent but whose owners were in arrears.
In the latest controversy, the Nakheel spokesman said today: "There is no truth in media reports claiming that we are blocking car park access. Nobody has been stopped from entering the car parks. We are simply urging owners and long-term tenants at Shoreline Buildings 1 and 2 to collect their new parking access cards in order to pass through the new automatic barriers that have been installed in these buildings."
"People who have collected their cards are now able to access the car park via the new automatic system," the spokesman said. "Those who haven't are being let in by the security teams, who are at the same time reminding residents that they need to collect their cards. Control and regulation of the Shoreline car parks is essential for the protection, security, safety and well-being of residents."
