Nakheel announces new community centres for Dubai's Discovery Gardens

Nakheel says the new facilities will open in 2014.

DUBAI // A new community centre for residents of Discovery Garden will be open by early next year.

The centre will provide services to 24,000 households in Discovery Gardens, Farjan and the Garden Community neighbourhoods, according to real estate developer Nakheel. The centre will include retail shops, restaurants and a day care spread over a total area of 8,700 square metres.

More than 20 local and international companies have signed up to open outlets by 2014. Another centre for the Jumeirah Park area will be opened by Nakheel by the year's end, according to state news agency Wam. The centre will also serve residents of Jumeirah Village and Jumeirah Islands.

Approximately 40 per cent of the work has been completed and space has been leased out to 30 stores.
