Multiple vehicles collide on Dubai motorway causing huge tailbacks

Major traffic congestion as police urge drivers to avoid MBZ road

A major crash on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road close to the Dubai-Sharjah border caused major traffic congestion on Thursday lunchtime.

Dubai Police said the accident happened about 11am and involved a number of lorries. Police called on drivers to be extra careful if they are in the area.

Google Maps' traffic service showed tailbacks stretching for several kilometres from the scene of the accident in the Al Twar area just behind Dubai International Airport to the City Centre Mirdif shopping centre.
