Move your car off the main road after a minor accident, Abu Dhabi Police tell motorists
Brig Gen Al Shehi said several traffic accidents have occurred in the capital recently due to motorists refusing to move their vehicles out of the way and have led to injuries
Motorists must move their cars if involved in a minor accident to avoid blocking traffic and potential further accidents, Abu Dhabi Police said on Wednesday.
The capital’s force has launched a campaign with Saaed in a bid to reduce traffic congestion after minor accidents and encourage motorists to move their vehicles to the nearest safe location.
“Moving vehicles out of the main road in case of minor accidents does not affect the process of identifying the cause of the accident as it is being determined through an accurate system,” said Brig Gen Ahmed Al Shehi, deputy director of the directorate of traffic and patrols at the Abu Dhabi Police.
He said several traffic accidents have occurred in the capital recently due to motorists refusing to move their vehicles out of the way and have led to injuries.
“Such accidents could have been avoided if roads were clear and free of traffic due to the accident,” he said.
“Leaving broken-down vehicles or trying to change a tyre while still on the main road runs a risk of run over accidents or further traffic accidents as other drivers try to change route to avoid them,” said Brig Gen Al Shehi.
