Mourning periods declared after death of Sheikh Saqr

A week-long mourning period started throughout the country following the death of Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.

A week-long mourning period started yesterday throughout the country, with flags flying at half-staff on all federal buildings, ministries, government departments and institutions.

Ras al Khaimah 

The mourning period will last for 40 days, during which time flags will fly at half-staff, with local government departments and institutes remaining closed for the first week.

Abu Dhabi & Dubai 

The mourning period will last for seven days, but there will be no closure of any government departments.

Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah & Umm al Qaiwain 

The mourning period is for one week. Government departments and institutions in these emirates will close for three days, starting today.
