The Emirati man was spotted by a passing motorist exiting his car on the Khalifa bin Zayed Road and setting fire to the cameras.
Motorist sets fire to speed camera in Fujairah
A man who caused damage to a speed cameras on Khalifa bin Zayed Road in Fujairah has been arrested.
Maj Dr Saeed Al Hassani, head of the media department at Fujairah Police, said they were alerted on Tuesday evening that a man was tampering with the device.
“Police cars were immediately dispatched,” he said and after investigations the suspect, a 24-year-old Emirati, was arrested.
“He admitted that he destroyed the front part of the radar and poured gasoline on it and set it on fire,” Maj Al Hassani said.
The suspect also denied any connection to reports of radars destroyed in Ras Al Khaimah. He has been referred to public prosecution.
