Mobile breast screening initiative begins UAE tour
Pink Caravan offers free check-ups across all seven emirates
A breast cancer awareness campaign has begun a tour across the UAE.
The team of volunteer medical staff are offering free consultations including mammograms and ultrasound screenings.
The initiative – known as the Pink Caravan – aims to boost awareness of the risks of breast cancer.
Organisers are also lobbying for a UAE-wide National Cancer Registry, a formal database of all reported cases of cancer in the country.
“The initiative has garnered widespread recognition locally, regionally and internationally and has appointed ambassadors from different walks of life to promote and advocate its mission," a spokeswoman for the campaign said.
The Pink Caravan began its annual tour of the UAE from the Dubai Design District on Monday.
It will head to Umm Al Quwain Hospital on Tuesday, Khorfakkan Hospital in Fujairah on Wednesday, Shaam Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday and finish at Louvre Abu Dhabi on Friday.
The scheme also has seven permanent clinics in Abu Dhabi Marina Mall, Ibn Battuta Mall Dubai, Al Majaz Waterfront Sharjah, Ajman Corniche, RAK Mall, Mall of Um Al Quwain and Lulu Mall Fujairah.
