Ministry tightens up on hospital guards
The Ministry of Health has ordered all private hospitals, medical industrial units and drug warehouses in the Northern Emirates to employ specialist security guards. Although most clinics and hospitals already employ registered security staff, they will now have to be hired from companies licensed by the Ministry of Interior, said Dr Amin al Amiri, executive director of medical practice affairs and licensing at the ministry.
Dr Robinder Singh, chief executive of the Royal Hospital in Sharjah, said he was unaware of the decision but would comply with any regulations now in place. "We originally hired staff from companies registered with the Ministry of Interior but then we began sourcing our own for self security," he explained. "Of course we will comply with any regulations but I was not aware of this yet. We will always abide by the law."
A spokeswoman from Al Zahra Hospital in Sharjah said it already had registered security guards in place. firstname.lastname@example.org
