ABU DHABI // Three men allegedly attacked a man who was on a date with a woman, then dragged her to the bathroom and ripped off her clothes.

The Criminal Court heard brothers J M and B M and their friend R M, all Emiratis, were staying at the Grand Millennium Al Wahda Hotel when the incident occurred.

They are also charged with refusing to pay for the room they rented.

At the hearing on Monday, one of the two brothers asked to be bailed because his pregnant wife was about to give birth.

The brothers’ mother also made a tearful appeal for them to be granted bail.

“Do you have any daughters?” asked Chief Justice Sayed Abdul Baseer, to which she replied she did.

“Would you approve if someone even touched their clothes? Not ripped them off, just touched them?

“Then how do you approve of it to be done to another woman and ask for your sons to be released?”

The woman also said her married son was the family breadwinner.

“So we let the married ones off the hook?” asked the judge.

Bail was refused and the next hearing was set for March 23.
