DUBAI // A lawyer representing two men accused of kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old boy told a court they did not carry out the crime as they both had sex with a woman an hour before.
Saeed Al Ghilani told the Dubai Criminal Court that the defendants M A, 19, from Yemen, and A A, 25, from Oman, had sex with a woman about an hour before the alleged kidnap on March 17 in the car the prosecution claim was used to kidnap the teenager.
“I request the car to be examined for semen just to confirm that the two defendants were sexually satisfied at that day,” said the lawyer, who told the court he had a waiver from the father of the alleged victim. He also asked the police anti-drugs unit to verify if the teenager was high on glue at the time of the alleged crime.
Prosecutors said that the defendants lured the victim into their car by claiming they owned a number of dogs he could play with.
Instead they drove him to a tent where they assaulted and raped him.
They were charged with kidnap, rape and consuming alcohol illegally, which they denied in court.
The victim’s mother said in her testimony that on the day of the incident her son left home after midnight. She said she called him several times but he failed to respond. “He returned around 1.30am and told me he was sexually assaulted,” said the 42-year-old Emirati.
The mother accompanied her son to the location where he said he was raped and called the police.
The victim said in his testimony that the defendants slapped and punched him when he refused to have sex with them.
The next hearing will be on October 22.
