Manager accused of kissing employee is cleared of sexual assault charge
The woman told prosecutors he told her to close her eyes so he could give her a present but kissed her instead
A manager was cleared of a sexually assaulting his colleague who said he kissed her without her permission.
The woman, a 24-year-old Filipina, said that on December 31, she and her manager, also Filipino, were in a business meeting with a client when the alleged incident occurred.
She said she left the man, 33, and the client together but when she re-joined the meeting, her boss told her he had a gift for her and asked her to close her eyes for a surprise.
“When I did I was surprised by him suddenly kissing me," she told prosecutors.
She said she was shocked by his behaviour and pushed him away before slapping him on his shoulder.
The man followed her to apologize and told her that he liked her, but she reported him to Al Rashidiyah police station.
In March, at Dubai Criminal Court, the accused denied a charge of sexual assault and on Wednesday, he was acquitted.
