DUBAI // A man who tried to stop a woman being robbed was stabbed by the attacker, a court heard.
Afghani K A, 25, stalked a Chinese woman getting money out of a bank in the gold market area in Deira on October 29, it was alleged.
He tried to rob Dh4,955 and US$500 from her purse.
But an Indian worker saw the incident and intervened.
K A stabbed the man in his left hand and knocked him down.
“We engaged in a fist fight. Then he took me by surprise and stabbed me in the hand,” said 33-year-old F F.
The woman’s screams caught the attention of police and the man was arrested. The defendant was not present in court to enter a plea against charges of armed robbery and assault.
The next hearing at Dubai Criminal Court was set for January 21.
