Man who sexually assaulted a girl to see out three-month jail term
A man who sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl for two years will see out his three-month jail term.
The man first began molesting the girl when she was 11 at her family’s home in Bur Dubai. In August, the girl’s mother was checking her daughter’s email when she noticed a message from the defendant titled “18+”.
Her mother opened the email and saw that he had sent her daughter pornographic videos. Upon confrontation, her daughter told her the 27-year-old Indian defendant – who is a family friend – would molest her every time he came to visit and would then email her indecent videos.
The mother called police who arrested the man. During questioning, he claimed to be in love with the girl.
“He said that he always hugged and kissed her whenever he visited them during holidays but because they were in love,” said a policeman.
The girl told prosecutors at Dubai Criminal Court: “I was scared to tell my parents because he constantly threatened me and told me that my mother would beat me and send me back to India.”
Her mother, 47, said her daughter was always angry and nervous when the defendant visited them.
“I only knew the reason behind her behaviour after I saw the emails and discovered his actions against my daughter,” she said.
In February, the man was convicted of sexually assaulting the girl, misusing the internet and emailing pornographic videos.
He was sentenced to three months in jail, which was upheld by Dubai Court of Appeal on Tuesday.
He will be deported after serving his term.
