ABU DHABI // Police cleared pedestrians and redirected traffic when a runaway "snorting, frenzied bull" trampled over a man in Al Rahba on Sunday.
Rescue teams and the police rushed to the area when told that the bull was running riot.
The bull, described by witnesses as "snorting, frenzied and running amok", charged into the man before an animal rescue and control company was alerted to subdue and capture it.
Police cordoned off the area, cleared it of pedestrians and redirected traffic until the special handlers arrived.
The trampled man, from India's Bengal state, was taken to hospital suffering from moderate injuries, Abu Dhabi police said. The handlers "chased the animal and managed to sedate it after a fierce fight", police added.
The bull has since been taken to animal control authorities.
It is not known where the bull had escaped from and an investigation has begun in a bid to trace the bull's owner.
