A cleaner has been sentenced to a year in prison for sexually harassing a colleague and biting off a part of her tongue.

The incident happened in shared accommodation in Bur Dubai on January 24 while the Kenyan man, 25, was drunk.

After asking to borrow the victim’s mobile phone he fell asleep in bed before he had returned it to her.

And as she went to wake him up to get it back, he tried to kiss her and then bit hard into her tongue when she resisted.

“I patted him on the shoulder to wake him up and when he didn’t I stretched my arm under his pillow to check if the phone was there,” the woman told the court.

After the attack, her friends rushed her to hospital where medics asked where the missing section of her tongue was.

Explaining there was a chance they could reattach the piece, one roommate returned to the flat to try to find it.

Once there, the attacker initially denied knowing where it was, but later admitted he had buried it.

“I left hospital and rushed home where he admitted he had buried the piece in the sand,” the witness told the court.

“I dug it up and hurried back to hospital but it was too late.”

The court ordered that the man be deported after his prison term.
