Man dies from injuries in UAE car crash that killed his wife and three children

The family was returning from Umrah when their saloon collided with another car on February 25.

SHARJAH // A Pakistani man who was seriously injured in a car crash that killed his wife, three children and another man a month ago has died in Al Dhaid Hospital.

The family was returning from Umrah when their small saloon collided with a car being driven by an Emirati man on February 25 on Maleha Road.

The Emirati died at the scene, as didthe wife and children. The man was taken to Al Dhaid Hospital, where a spokesman said he died yesterday morning.

"The hospital had done everything possible to save his life," the spokesman said. "He has been in and out of the intensive-care unit and a number of major surgeries have been done. We regret that we have lost him."

A police report said the accident was caused by reckless driving and that the Pakistan man was suspected to have fallen asleep at the wheel after driving to Sharjah from Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
