An Iranian man who was cleared of turning his villa into a gambling den has had his acquittal upheld by Dubai Court of Appeal.
At Dubai Criminal Court and Dubai Court of Appeal, the 55-year-old denied a charge of running a gambling den from his villa in Al Barsha.
He also denied possessing 71 bottles of alcohol and 12 beer cans to provide to others which police seized on April 25 when they arrested him and ten others.
An Emirati policeman, 27, said the men admitted during questioning to meeting from time-to-time to gamble but they were not faced with charges in court.
Prosecutors sought a conviction at court on Wednesday but the acquittal was upheld.
