A man lured a woman by promising her a job then intimidated, beat and sexually assaulted her, Dubai Criminal Court was told.
Prosecutors said the Filipina accountant first contacted the defendant, 46, after a mutual friend gave her his number, saying he could help her find a job.
"My friend gave me his number and told me he can help me find a job so I called him and he asked to meet in front of Rashidiya Metro Station on the morning of January 31 this year," said the woman.
When the met, he drove her to the Ministry of Labour in his SUV to check her visa status.
She said the defendant promised to hire her at a tourism company he owned in Burj Khalifa, telling her she could start work the next day.
The Emirati defendant then drove her to her flat in Ras Al Khaimah so she could collect her belongings to move into his staff accommodation.
"I packed my stuff and returned with him to Dubai. I though he was taking me to the accommodation, but it was a house in Al Rashidiya area," she said.
The man then began intimidating and touching her so she pushed him away. She said he then ripped off her clothes and molested her.
Records show that the woman tried to call for help but he banged her head, choked her, hit her with a broom and then threw her to the ground. She managed to break away from him and ran into the street barefoot then called police.
Police arrested the defendant on February 8. During police questioning, he denied assaulting her.
The next hearing is scheduled for May 8.
