Man arrested for trafficking and rape in Dubai
The construction worker, 32, forced a 15-year-old girl into prostitution
A man wanted for luring a Bangladeshi teenager to Dubai and forcing her into prostitution has been arrested after being on the run for nearly a year.
Police said the construction worker, 32, faced rape and human trafficking charges after bringing the 15-year-old girl into the UAE illegally.
Dubai Criminal Court heard how the man kept his victim tied up in a flat with the help of two accomplices who were arrested by officers last year.
The pair, aged 30 and 33, were both jailed for seven years for their part in the trafficking but their co-accused remained on the run.
This week, prosecutors described how informants had helped them locate the man and arrest him.
They said his teenage victim now suffered from extensive psychological problems owing to the ordeal.
The hearing was adjourned until December 9.
