A man has been arrested in Ras Al Khaimah after posting a video online in which he appeared to threaten a young boy with a Taser-like device.

Authorities said police officers had been instructed to investigate the film after it went viral on social media last week.

The short clip of just over a minute long shows a boy called Jasim looking intimidated and scared as he is accused of not doing his homework.

He is also forced to apologise for hitting someone with a slipper as he is laughed at from behind the camera.

Maj Gen Ali Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of RAK Police, said the man involved had been identified and was being questioned by detectives.

He also appealed to all parents to treat their children with care, respect and kindness, and to avoid bullying behaviour.

“The UAE….does not allow anyone to prejudice the safety of others…especially the rights, safety and security of children,” he said.
