Man arrested after mobile phone rings in court

The Chief Justice of the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court ordered guards to arrest a man in the courtroom after his mobile phone rang.

Chief Justice Sayed Abdul Baseer of the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court yesterday ordered guards to arrest a man in the courtroom after his mobile phone rang. Court had been interrupted twice previously by ringing phones.

"Despite the sign that says no phones outside the courtroom, and the numerous verbal warnings that were issued, he interrupted the flow of a very important murder case with his ringtone," the judge said.

"Prosecution will decide what measures to take as he caused chaos and disturbance in court."
