A man secretly took pictures of his female housemate as she showered, a court heard.
The 22-year-old Sri Lankan woman was in the bathroom of her shared villa in Al Rashidiya when she spotted a light shining on her from the camera of a mobile phone.
She said the defendant, a 38-year-old warehouse supervisor, ran away when she screamed in horror.
The woman's family alerted police and the man, also from Sri Lanka, was arrested.
The incident is alleged to have taken place on December 21 of last year.
“It was late after midnight as I was taking a shower and spotted the light. When I looked closer, it turned out to be a mobile camera,” said the woman.
“I felt that he lost his balance when I screamed then ran away.”
She said that she shared the villa with a number of people and lived in a master bed-room with her mother and brother.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that nude images of the woman were found on the man's phone.
He denied charges of sexual assault and breach of privacy when he appeared in court.
A verdict is due to be passed when the case is next in court on February 26.
