DUBAI // A man accused of having sex with a maid and getting her pregnant proposed to her in court.
“Yes I love her and the baby she is carrying is my baby, I want to marry her. If you allow me I will ask her to marry me,” he told the court.
When the woman said yes, J B, 37, asked the judge for Dh200 as an allowance to use in detention.
The couple were arrested in J B’s Sharjah apartment on October 30 when police raided the Emirati’s residence to arrest him over a separate assault and kidnap case, the court heard.
Police found him living with P A and that she was pregnant. Both confessed to having sex outside of marriage.
At the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours on Wednesday, J B confessed to having consensual sex with Filipina P A, 29.
P A also confessed to the same charge.
The date of the next hearing has yet to be determined.
