DUBAI // A maid who stole jewellery from her British employer was sentenced to three months in jail this morning.

Filipina SJ, 44, denied a charge of theft when she appeared at the Dubai Criminal Court earlier this month.

Prosecutors said she stole six necklaces, 10 rings and five bracelets while her sponsor, JN, 70, was away from home.

Records show that the theft incidents happened on February 12 this year and on an unidentified dates before that during the 15 years SJ had worked for her employer.

“She worked at my house for nearly 15 years, she was responsible for cleaning and cooking and had access to my closets and drawers from where she stole the jewellery.” said JN.

The maid will be deported after completing her jail term.
