Maid cleared of sitting on Quran

The maid allegedly rubbed the holy book on her behind then put it on the floor and sat on it

A maid was cleared of mocking the Quran after allegedly rubbing it against her behind then putting it on the floor and sitting on it.

On August 30, the Indonesian maid, 36, was accused of practicing black magic by her Emirati employer. She attempted to convince her employer of her innocence by swearing on the Quran.

The woman allegedly then rubbed it against her behind, put the holy book on the floor and sat on it.

At Dubai Criminal Court in October, the maid denied having any intention to mock or disrespect the Quran.

She said she acted spontaneously. “I didn't mean to disrespect religion, I am a Muslim too,” she said.

The maid was cleared of all charges by Dubai Criminal Court and the acquittal was upheld by Dubai Court of Appeal.
